When we were in school all we wanted was to grow up and now when we have grown up we realize how much it sucks to be a grown up, burdened with responsibilities in a society where you have to constantly work to prove your worth.
Although we cannot bring back those glorious school days but we can surely write about it and feel nostalgic so here are 19 things that we all badly miss of our school times :
1. Uniforms
All of us hated wearing uniforms. We were constantly reminded of wearing the tie right, socks uptight, shoes be polished to perfection and still the guys would wear their trousers low waist and girls would keep their skirts short just to look cool and would fight with fellow school mates on whose uniform is better.
2. Ride to school
No matter how much we hated waking up early and getting ready for school but we always looked forward to the bus ride from home to school where we would play games or gossip about our teachers or classmates.
3. Zero period
Yes, that one period where we would complete our pending assignments or copy homework from a friend. Anything that we could not complete at home we completed it in zero period.
4. Surprise tests
Entering your class just to find out that you have a surprise test waiting for you was the worst feeling ever.
5. Eating tiffin during class
Hungry or not but eating tiffin during class without letting the teacher know, always gave us a sense of pride.
6. Struggle to copy from blackboard-
Our teachers just won’t let us copy from the blackboard while teaching and later we used to struggle to copy those 78,587,489 words hurriedly before the teacher rubbed it all off.
7. Being the class in charge
Back in those days everyone wanted to be the apple of their teacher’s eyes and would want to be the monitor of the class to enjoy the special privileges that came along with it like favoring your friends and act like you own the class like a boss.
8. Playing games during class
We all have played knots and crosses, Bollywood, hangman, book cricket etc. during the class lectures because we all hated that one boring lecture where teacher would ask a student to read out the chapter but you with your friends would quietly play all sorts of fun games and would try not to laugh out loud.
9. Pen fights
We all loved pen fights. We played it without letting the teacher know during the class, sitting at the last bench and also during the recess.
10. The first crush
Everyone’s first crush is in their school be it on a subject teacher or on a fellow classmate or on a senior, we would play FLAMES to know our future with them and talking to our crush for the first time was quite a feel.
11. The last day of school before vacations
No matter how much assignments we were given for holidays, we all waited for the last day for vacations to start and celebrate it with our friends in the canteen and make plans with them for the vacation.
12. Canteen
Although not much was available at the school canteen but the samosas, burgers and the hotdogs from the canteen meant the world to us.
13. Sleeping during class
How can we ever forget the history class where we just couldn’t help but fall asleep.
14. Annual day celebrations
Rehearsing for weeks for annual day was so much fun where participating in the celebrations would also mean that you can skip some lectures at school without getting into a problem.
15. Sports period
Amidst the boring lectures, sports period always came as a sigh of relief from the monotonous study sessions.
16. Meeting friends everyday
Unlike today where we are stuck in a chaotic life and hardly find time to call up our friends let alone meeting them, school days were surely some blissful days for we got to see our friends every day, gossip with them and eat each other’s tiffin.
17. Substitute teachers
Whenever we didn’t prepare for the test or forgot to do our homework, the only thing that we wished for was that our teacher gets absent because substitute teachers always rocked!
18. Trip to movies/ picnics
Let’s agree to the fact that no matter how many times we had fallen sick and skipped the school but nobody skipped the school on the day of a movie trip or a picnic and we all would ask our mothers to make the best snack for the tiffin.
19. Teachers screaming at you
Almost everybody has been slapped atleast once in their lives by their teacher.No school life is ever complete without it and yes we still remember all such incidents when we were slapped or yelled upon by our teachers.
